Peers Documentation

Peers is a local-first platform where your data lives on your devices, syncs peer-to-peer, and is end-to-end encrypted - no servers in the middle. You own your data and your identity. Browse the sidebar for architecture docs, package guides, and system internals.

Alpha

Peers is available now but under active development. APIs and behavior may change between releases.

There is a decent amount of AI slop in these docs so keep that in mind. This is a nights-and-weekends project right now so we're doing what we can with the limited time. Once things stabilize the docs will get much more human attention.

Getting started

New to building on Peers? Start with the Packages — Getting Started guide, which covers how packages work, what they contribute (tables, tools, routes, UI), and how to build and install one.

Already have Peers installed? The CLI lets you interact with the app from your terminal — chat with assistants, query your database, run tools, and more. It also makes Peers fully accessible to AI coding assistants and automation scripts.
